Acadia National Park has reopened the Park Loop Road and the Visitor’s Center in the Bar Harbor village of Hulls Cove for the 2012 tourist season.

The Visitor’s Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, park officials said in a recent release. All carriage roads are now open to pedestrians and to bicycles, they said, but two hiking trails are remain closed because of nesting peregrine falcons – Precipice Trail on Champlain Mountain and Valley Cove Trail on Saint Sauveur Mountain. Hikers are advised to use caution on open trails as some may still have patches of ice and snow.

The park’s Sand Beach entrance station is scheduled to open for the season on May 1. All park passes may be purchased at this location.
